EARLY FEEDBACK

Jason Hulott

Instructor at Nishimon Dojo
“I can see the beauty of this tool not just in tameshigiri but also in waza – making sure you are cutting when you should be cutting”

Matt Easton

AKA Scholar Gladiatoria – Youtube
“I think it’s a really great idea, it’s quite addictive to use, it’s a lot of fun to use. I also like the idea of something really clean. You just put up the board, cut, pack it away again, stick it in the training kit bag. Again I think it’s a really really good idea !”

Nikolas Lloyd

AKA Lindybeige – Youtube
“One of those simple ides that makes one think ‘why didn’t I think of that?’ I think the HEMA community are going to love this!”

Jay Maxwell

Founder of Tempus Fugitives
“As HEMA suppliers rarely a day goes by where we are not offered some new product or other, but it is not often that we see a concept as innovative or as convenient as the new Tameshigiri home training solution. Now in the final stages of production development, we are eager to supply the Tameshigiri product with a range of photoreactive cutting diagrams”

FAQ

1.How big is the target ? Is this customizable ?

The entire target is 145cm x 41cm whilst the reactive area is 84cm x 32cm. Unfortunately this is non customizable, but we do plan to offer a range of different targets to suit different styles/needs.

2. How durable is the target ?

The target is made from a thick blackout polyester whilst the reactive area is a type of photo-luminescent vinyl. The fabric is quite durable, being resistant to tears, and waterproof for outdoor use.

3. How long does a target last ?

The reactive vinyl is rated for 10 years, and it is possible to recondition a target by purchasing new vinyl.

4. Are the lasers dangerous ?

As with most lasers, there is a risk of eye injury, but all units come with safety classes designed to prevent this. Lasers we’re currently using are Class 3B and <500ma.
(This is subject to change following testing.)

5. Are there any limitations to distance when using the product ?

The lasers are designed to be focussed between 2 – 3m. The device can be used outside of this range, but the marks left will be larger and likely fainter depending on lighting conditions.

6. How long does a single charge last ?

We’re aiming for a 2-3hour battery life, with a charge time of 30mins. This is subject to change depending on further testing as there’s a compromise to make between device weight and battery life.
